Dr. Juana Mendenhall has been selected to serve in the North America cohort of the Google & GSV Higher Ed Leader Fellowship. As a leader in the cohort, she is joining a global community of pedagogical visionaries serving as catalysts for system-level transformation. This work will focus on the vital intersection of teaching, learning, and technology窶巴uilding the strategic fluency needed to reimagine instruction and ensure every student experiences a rigorous, future-ready education.

ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ AI in Action

We highlight the work of colleagues across ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ who are finding practical, meaningful ways to use emerging tools in their teaching, research, and daily work. Each project reflects a thoughtful approach to improving how we learn, work, and serve our community. Together, they represent the creativity, care, and purpose that define the ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ experience.

ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ has received a prestigious grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to participate in a $457 million project to build one of the most powerful academic supercomputers in the southeast. This historic investment in higher education cyberinfrastructure will elevate ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ窶冱 ability to provide unprecedented access to world-class computational resources for its students, faculty, and HBCUs nationwide. The ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ Center for Broadening Participation in Computing, led by Executive Director Dr. Kinnis Gosha, has received $5 million of the NSF grant to start construction on a site that will house the cutting-edge supercomputer, Horizon, part of the NSF窶冱 Leadership-Class Computing Facility (LCCF). The supercomputer will push the boundaries of artificial intelligence, providing greater access to areas such as climate modeling, machine learning, and biomedical research. On behalf of Amazon Web Services (AWS)-Machine Learning University, two ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ faculty completed all requirements to receive micro-credential from AWS-Machine Learning University (MLU). Dr. Sonya Dennis and Professor Yvonne Phillips-Taylor were acknowledged at the award ceremony during the AWS-MLU Spring Teaching and Research Symposium at Tuskegee University on February 27, 2026.

Dr. Renee Jordan, Associate Director for Operations, Finances, and Compliance, has received a seed grant to develop and pilot humanities-centered AI faculty workshops. These workshops aim to equip faculty with practical, ethical, and creative strategies for supporting rich, rigorous and inclusive learning through AI.

Because of her visionary leadership and commitment to transforming the educational landscape, Dr. Juana Mendenhall continues to serve as an architect of instructional transformation, demonstrating leadership at the intersection of academic excellence, institutional strategy, and technology. Through her engagement with global peers and innovative technologies, she is helping advance ﾂ鮟ｨﾊﾓﾆｵ窶冱 strategic fluency in emerging technologies and positioning the institution for continued excellence in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

窶廛eveloping a County-Level Measure of Data Center Activity for the Drawdown Georgia Solutions Tracker窶� from the Ray C. Anderson Foundation. As part of Drawdown Georgia's Phase 5 Solutions Tracker, Dr. Ashley N. Scruse is leading the development of a county-level measure that maps data center proposals, construction, and operations across all 159 Georgia counties, alongside indicators of community support and concerns. The work combines web scraping, public records analysis, and a reproducible Python pipeline so the measure can be updated as new data becomes available, supporting comparative county-level analysis within the
